‘Weekend Gardener’: Austin Tv and radio icon receives day named right after him


AUSTIN (KXAN) — For a lot more than four many years, John Dromgoole has served gardeners all above Central Texas continue to keep their yards and crops vivid and flourishing. Tuesday, Austin officials named the working day soon after him in honor of his eco-friendly thumb.

Dromgoole has owned and operated The Pure Gardener natural nursery for 40 yrs and is a nearby tv staple on Austin PBS and KXAN, sharing his guidelines and tips for vegetation and vegetables with yard enthusiasts of all types. Austin City Councilmember Paige Ellis, who represents District 8 in which Dromgoole’s nursery operates, aided declare April 12 as “John Dromgoogle Day” in a ceremony at the nursery.

Dromgoole’s specialty is organic gardening, and his 8-acre nursery showcases how he composts and guards crops towards pests and disorder with out pesticides, between other procedures to enable gardens thrive.

“Many of these people today experienced young children at the time considering the fact that when we commenced, and they really don’t know words and phrases like diazinon and malathion.
