USF Botanical Gardens considered a ‘hidden gem in the center of campus’

Nestled in the center of the University of South Florida campus, bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds make their dwelling amongst a 10-acre botanical yard. 

The USF Botanical Gardens has a collection of crops from all in excess of the environment like cacti, bromeliads, succulents, orchids and fruit trees. 

“When people visit the backyard for the initial time, they are ordinarily awed by all the issues that they can see,” remarked Laurie Walker with the USF botanical gardens. “We typically commence them off in the butterfly back garden and they can see plants that are especially planted for butterflies. You see how the honey bees just enjoy the blooms and the moths and butterflies are important pollinators.”

The USF Botanical Gardens was produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s, rights right after the college was recognized. Originally, it opened as a exploration and schooling facility. It opened to the general public in the late 1990s.

“When you stroll down the path and see the light trickling by the trees, it’s astounding when you flip a corner and see some thing unique.
