This month Erna can take inspiration from the huge timber bamboo Bambusa oldhamii in our Library Courtyard. Classes are created for all concentrations of painter and non-painter and just about every participant will get residence her/his personal charming painting.

Be part of community artist Erna Van Dyk as she teaches you how to see and paint coloration and basic shapes utilizing phase-by-stage watercolor approaches. You will work with each other to notice the shades and qualities of the huge timber bamboo… and a creepy crawly visitor! This fun, calm class takes put in our outside classroom right before the back garden is open. Grandparents and favourite adults are welcome much too! No working experience necessary. All elements furnished. Character Journal offered to order on the working day (optional).

WORKSHOP: MANDALA ROCKS

Join Erna van Dyk for this enjoyable and fun ‘mandala rocks’ workshop in the garden. Erna will direct you via a phase by move process of building and portray dots to generate your own gorgeous mandala patterns. Great for putting on your desk, in your backyard, or gifting to a specific human being. Acquire your buddies and take pleasure in the course of action. All ages welcome.

Photography Course: Building DRAMA with H2o

  • Sunday, January 23 / 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Payment: $55 Member / $65 Non-Member

Learn to use water to create drama in your photos. Our photography teacher, Jeanine Hill, will supply you with a spray bottle, a flower and the option to experiment with drinking water drops to make flower artwork. You will also learn to use an eyedropper and smaller lights to improve dramatic results. The second 50 % of the class will be put in in the yard, experimenting with the Sherman blooms.

WORKSHOP: INTRODUCTION to FLOWER Pressing

  • Thursday, January 27 / 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Rate: $40 Member / $45 Non-Member

Master the art of flower urgent, working with cuttings and blooms from the Sherman backyard. Kyle Cheesborough, Sherman Horticulture Director, will introduce you to the meticulous methods essential to press and protect crops in order to screen the intricacies of the plant and its bouquets, leaves, and stems.

For hundreds of years, botanists have been observing, collecting, and preserving plant specimens for file-holding and ongoing research of the species that inhabit our earth. As floral language turned extra popular in the Victorian Period, gardeners commenced pressing their have floral findings to put in attractive frames and shadow containers – even producing total dried arrangements from pressed crops!

This course will give you all the applications, tactics and products you need to have to commence flower urgent at dwelling.
