Local community greenhouse understanding lab opens at Astoria Residences


A team of young citizens of the Astoria Residences NYCHA progress held a ceremonial ribbon cutting Monday to rejoice the opening of an indoor greenhouse inside of the housing complex’s neighborhood center.

The state-of-the-art greenhouse will double as a foodstuff supply and science lab for youngsters and their people.

The lab, which was constructed by the nonprofit New York Sunshine Functions with funding from the New York Ability Authority, takes advantage of hydroponics to mature crops indoors without the need of any soil and includes seeding stations, a tower back garden, hanging vines, and a composting station.
