With no shortage of solutions for disposing of your Christmas tree, the UBC Botanical Backyard garden is hoping to bring in men and women wanting to donate to a induce that introduces the advantages of expanding vegetation to a new technology.
Proceeds from this year’s tree chipping at the UBC Botanical Backyard will go towards a college gardening initiative at Thunderbird elementary, “a college located in East Vancouver with a substantial percentage of vulnerable students and households,” in accordance to the garden’s web page.
Patrick Lewis, director of the UBC Botanical Yard, suggests the program — coordinated by the Modern society Promoting Environmental Conservation — teaches students how to mature their have food, which also builds self esteem.
